Introducing Canva

The easy graphic design tool for small business owners

As a small business owner myself I know just how hard it is to wear all the hats, especially when marketing your business. I wanted to share a quick intro to my absolute favourite tool, Canva.

If you need to create graphics for your business to share on Social (and elsewhere) and don't have the budget to hire yourself a Graphic Designer this is definitely worth a try.

This free graphic design tool (for non graphic designers) is great if you're looking to bring consistency and impact to your visual branding for your small business.

Benefits of Canva

âš¡User friendly drag & drop functionality

âš¡Perfect for creating designs from scratch easily

âš¡Huge range of fully customisable templates

âš¡Ability to upload own imagery and branding

âš¡Library of free stock imagery

âš¡Desktop and mobile apps for designing and posting on the go

I really would recommend you create a (free) account and take a look at all of the great design templates, ready for you to have a go at customising for your business.

There are templates for Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest, e-books, presentations print materials and much more readily available as well as the ability to create designs with custom dimensions. You can save as PNG, JPEG, PDF with even more functionality made available to you if you invest in the budget friendly paid version.

When opening up the Canva Home page you will be shown a selection of the templates available to you, with more options shown in the Templates drop down at the top left of your screen.

Once inside a document you will be able to edit your canvas using the tools in the left hand pane.

There are endless possibilities with amazing Canva and once you've nailed your brand's consistent look and feel you can really use it to create some fantastic promotional assets for your socials really easily.

Be warned though, you can lose hours tinkering in there - I know I have.
